Expat Social Groups

International Women of Istanbul (IWI) Largest and oldest of the international social groups is the International Women of Istanbul (IWI), a social organization that brings together international women of all ages and cultures in Istanbul. They have over 600 members representing 56 different countries and engage in numerous social and outreach activities. 
American Women of Istanbul (AWI) The AWI is a social network open to Americans, Canadians and spouses of U.S. or Canadian citizens living in Istanbul. Belgian Friends of Istanbul The Belgian Friends of Istanbul help Belgian newcomers to feel at home and make friends quickly. Circolo Roma The Italian Association organizes several activities and their cultural center can be used for private parties and conferences upon contribution. Please contact them here.

Die Bruecke Die Bruecke ("The Bridge") is a platform for the German speak­ing community. It was founded in 1989 and is open to anyone who speaks German. InterNations InterNations is a networking group for expatriates and globally-minded individuals. They host social events monthly.

Alcoholics Anonymous&Al-Anon Open AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings in English are held in the Union Han building on Istiklal Caddesi, Tünel, next to the Swedish Consulate at 6:45 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday (contact +90 533 626 5724 ). There is an Alanon meeting at 6:30 pm on Thursdays in the same location. On Sundays, there is an open AA meeting at 4:15 pm in Harbiye (contact +90 539 606 0123).On the Asian side in Kadikoy, there are meetings at 6:00 pm on Thursdays and at5:30 pm on Saturdays (contact +90 537 433 8368). Activity Groups

ARIT (American Research Institute of Turkey) The Friends of ARIT Istanbul, with branches in North America and Ankara, was established to support the ARIT in Turkey and carry out its scholarly activities. Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts of America The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of America is a youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. All boys in grades I - 5 (ages 6 -10) holding a foreign passport are welcome to join Cub Scouts. Older boys (ages II - 18), with foreign passports are welcome to join Boy Scouts. PAWI (The Professional American Women of Istanbul) The Professional American Women of Istanbul, is a network of American/Canadian women and spouses of Americans/Canadians living in Istanbul. PAWI strives to empower and support members by promoting professional and personal growth. Members inspire each other to achieve and share success. PAWI meetings are held the second Saturday of each month. Each meeting features a guest speaker, and locations alternate between the European and Asian sides. Speech Bubbles Speech Bubbles Is an international group aiming to perform high-quality musical theater and donating the income to NGOs supporting children and education. Toastmasters International-Istanbul Chapter The English speaking Istanbul Toastmasters club is the only local branch of Toastmasters International, an organization that helps its members improve their communication and leadership skills in a supportive environment. ITM meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 19:30-21:30 at the Metro Park Hotel in Taksim. Guests are welcome to attend two meetings free of charge.
